Do daylilies need to be blanched before drying?

2025-10-18

Daylily Drying Process

Daylilies, also known as daylilies, are a vegetable grown in large quantities in our rural areas. They have the properties of stopping bleeding, reducing swelling, clearing heat, and detoxifying, making them perfect for summer.

Daylily buds should be harvested early in the morning and must be blanched within 3-5 hours to prevent deterioration due to respiratory exhaustion, enzymatic browning, flowering, and microbial spoilage. Farmers currently use the traditional steaming method. After blanching, the daylilies are softened and can be loaded onto a material cart and pushed into the daylily dryer for drying.

Water evaporates relatively quickly after blanching, so the drying room air temperature should be rapidly raised in the early stages of drying. Set the starting temperature to 50°C with dehumidification off for one hour.

Once the temperature rises, quickly activate the dehumidification mode and select humidity control. Set the relative humidity to 55%, start the internal fan, and raise the temperature to 55°C for eight hours. Once the daylily dryer begins draining water continuously, monitor the water flow rate and relative humidity. Continue to increase the temperature to 60°C for 5 hours.

During the final drying period, monitor the daylily's drainage and drying progress. Depending on the drying progress, increase the temperature further and continue drying for approximately 4 hours before completing the drying process.
